Church Project Updates
Roof - Great News! City council has approved our plans and will be issuing us our permit shortly! It's been quite the journey, but everything is now looking good to get this project moving in early October.
Some Highlights of this Project For You
Prices have gone up $100,00.00 since we signed the contract (whew)
Rydel Roofing, a well established, Canadian company, will be doing the work. The project is expected to take 4-6 weeks, weather permitting.
The Roofing Material we selected is called Euroshield and is a Canadian made, recycled rubber product that looks like "shakes" (a historical style of shingle).
There is a 30 year warranty on the material and it has a life expectancy of 50 years
Our Project will divert 5500 used tires from landfill.
The Chimney on the parking lot side will be removed as it no longer has a functional purpose.
How Can You help?
During the construction process, parking will be a little more challenging, so try to carpool for services when possible.
Donate to the Building Fund, every little bit really does help!
Many thanks to those who have already stepped up to ensure that the next generation, will have a "roof over their heads"
Tree - Unfortunately our new tree still hasn't arrived, but the good news is that they have confirmed the new planting date is Sept 30. Once it's in place and the plaque is ready, the dedication date will be announced.
Thank you to everyone who donated to Bert's memorial plaque!
Cobweb Challenge - For some reason we developed several GINORMOUS cobwebs on the roof line to the left of the front door entrance. (We were well on our way to having the most effective effective Halloween display in Dorval! ) Our thanks go out to Tim Klempen, who found a way to remove them without needing a 20 ft. ladder!
Front Door- Still working on it The front door and its lock have become more of a challenge over the last few years. Keys are difficult to cut and the cost has risen to $37.00 per key. The door is also drafty and can be heavy to open at times.
Estimates are currently "in the works" to provide options for reparability of the existing door (and lock ) or the installation of a new one.
